  • Women's Golf Finishes in Second at SHU Fall Invite to Close Fall Season

    MILFORD, Conn. — The Sacred Heart University women's golf team concluded its Fall season, finishing second of six teams at the SHU Fall Classic on Monday afternoon at the Great River Golf Club. All Pioneer seven golfers, including Maya Isom who competed as an individual, finished in the top-20 out of 31 individuals at the invitational. As a team, SHU finished 79-over par and a 655 total. Hofstra took the crown, finishing 76-over par and an 652 total.

    BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart University women's volleyball team suffered its second-consecutive conference loss, as the Pioneers fell to LIU Brooklyn (25-21, 19-25, 28-26, 16-25, 9-15) on the road Saturday evening. Liisel Nelis led Sacred Heart (12-8, 5-4 NEC) with a double-double, registering a game-high 18 kills and 11 digs. Sarah Ciszek added 45 assists and 14 digs in the loss.
  • Hunt Seat Places Sixth at Connecticut College

    The Sacred Heart University Equestrian Hunt Seat competed at Connecticut College this afternoon. The team placed sixth overall while host Connecticut College won the overall event with 35 points while SHU scored 19 on the day. Lea Mascola placed first in the Show Class 13 Novice Fences Section C and Michaela Fritsch placed first in Show Class 19 Novice Flat Section C. The two had the best day for the Pioneers and Fritisch was named the team MVP for her impressive performance.

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Sacred Heart University field hockey team clinched a berth in the MAAC tournament for the first time since 2014 after defeating LIU Brooklyn, 6-3, Friday evening. Kelsy Hopkins recorded a hat trick in the win, with Colleen McAninley, Emily Alexis and Allie Brouhard also tallying a goal apiece. The Pioneers return to action on Sunday, Oct. 21, when SHU plays host to Quinnipiac at 5 p.m.

    BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart University women's volleyball team suffered its third conference loss of the season, as the Pioneers fell to St. Francis Brooklyn (22-25, 25-23, 25-27, 25-15, 13-15) on the road Friday evening. Liisel Nelis led Sacred Heart (12-7, 5-3 NEC) with a double-double, registering a game-high 23 kills and 10 digs. Alix Polk recorded a double-double of her own with 12 digs and 10 kills. Sarah Ciszek added 50 assists and 13 digs in the loss.

This is the third time this season that Ciszek has been named Rookie of the Week and first time that she was named Player of the Week, totaling four weekly awards so far this season.

    FAIRFIELD, Conn - The Sacred Heart University women’s rowing participated in the Meters for Myeloma 5K walk/run, hosted by the Fairfield University rowing team on Sunday afternoon. Multiple myeloma is the second most common blood cancer and currently there is no cure. Fairfield rowing decided to host the event to raise both awareness and funds for multiple myeloma research.

    The Sacred Heart University Equestrian team wrapped up its show at the Trinity College Hunt Seat this morning. The Pioneers swept two fences sections as the team won both the Show Open Fences sections and the Intermediate Fences section. The team returns to action on Saturday Oct. 20 when they compete in it's second Hunt Seat of the year this time at Connecticut College.
