SOMERSET, N.J. – Sacred Heart hoops will be featured in four of the Northeast Conference's record setting 22 games to be televised on ESPN platforms for the 2017-18 season as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon. Both the men's and women's basketball programs will appear in two contests, all in the month of February.
The men will battle LIU Brooklyn in the primetime slot of an NEC doubleheader February 1, with tip-off slated for 9 p.m. on ESPNU. Their second feature, airing on ESPN3, is a weekend matchup against Central Connecticut State set for Saturday, February 10, on the backend of a doubleheader with action beginning at 4 p.m.
On the women's side, this year's NEC television slate includes 12 contests which tab the most in NEC history. The Pioneers will play in front of a live national audience when they take on Mount St. Mary's first, Monday, February 12 at 6 p.m. on ESPN3. A week later, SHU will take the hardwood at Robert Morris also on ESPN3 February 19 for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
The eight NEC Tournament games that will be televised come March also match a league record.
The NEC men's championship will have each of its semifinal battles aired on ESPN3. The championship game will be featured on ESPN or ESPN2 March 6.
ESPN3 will televise each of the women's hoops' quarterfinals (March 7) and semifinals (March 8) matchups before the championship game is aired on ESPNU on March 11.
