Men’s Soccer Picked Ninth In NEC Preseason Coaches’ Poll

SOMERSET, N.J.— The Sacred Heart men's soccer team was picked to finish fifth in the Northeast Conference men's soccer preseason poll released on Tuesday.

The Pioneers finished the 2017 season with 3-14-1 overall record while placing eighth in the NEC standings. The team returns five seniors including midfielder Oscar Curras who led the team in goals in assists in the previous season. The team also welcomes in eight freshman to Park Avenue.

The defending NEC Champions, St. Francis Brooklyn, earned the top spot in the poll with all eight first place votes. LIU Brooklyn and Fairleigh Dickinson followed in second and third in the poll.

SHU opens the 2018 season at NJIT on August 24. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.
