Claroni, Tolli Land All-MAAC Honors, 15 Pioneers Earn All-Academic
Rachel Claroni and Nichole Tolli of the Sacred Heart field hockey team earned All-MAAC honors as announced by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Thursday night at the MAAC Championship Award Show. The senior defender Claroni was selected to the first team, while sophomore Tolli earned a spot on the second team for the second straight year.

Field Hockey Falls to Fairfield on Senior Day
The Sacred Heart field hockey team was shutout by Fairfield University 1-0 in the 2015 season finale. Despite a strong showing by the Pioneer offense, it was the Stags that managed the only goal of the game in the second half. Prior to the game, SHU honored graduating seniors Mary Altepeter, Christine Mace, Rachel Claroni and Nichole Dobachesky.

Altepeter Makes 15 Saves in Field Hockey Loss
Rebecca Hauser scores her second goal in as many games Sunday as the Sacred Heart field hockey team dropped the final road game of the season 3-1 at Rider. Senior goalie Mary Altepeter was just one save short of matching her season-best, stopping 15 Bronc shots. The loss drops the Pioneers to 2-13 this season, while Rider improves to 10-6.

Pioneers Downed 3-1 by Monmouth
Rebecca Hauser scored for the Pioneers in the second half as the Sacred Heart field hockey team fell to Monmouth 3-1 on Friday evening. Mary Altepeter made nine saves as the Pioneers fall to 2-12 on the season and 0-4 in MAAC play.

Field Hockey Shutout at Bryant
Despite a strong offense in the second half, the Sacred Heart field hockey team was blanked by the Bryant Bulldogs 1-0 Sunday in Smithfield, R.I. Rookie Rebecca Hauser led the charge for the Pioneers putting a team-high two shots on goal. She and senior Rachel Claroni recorded a squad-leading three shots each.

The Sacred Heart field hockey team fell 3-2 in overtime to the Quinnipiac Bobcats Friday night at Johnson Field. Nichole Tolli and Rachel Claroni scored for the Pioneers, while Mary Altepeter recorded two saves.

Gallagher Scores in Matinee Loss to Lehigh
Mary Altepeter recorded 11 saves in the Sacred Heart field hockey team’s 3-1 loss to Lehigh Tuesday afternoon at Johnson Field. After the Mountain Hawks went up 3-0, Danielle Gallagher found the back of the cage in the game’s final minute.

The Sacred Heart field hockey team rallied with two second-half goals in Sunday’s Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference opener, but it wasn’t enough as the Pioneers fell to Siena 4-2 on Johnson Field.

Field Hockey vs. Siena Postponed due to Lightning, Power Outage
SHU field hockey's MAAC opener versus the Siena Saints was cancelled Friday night due to a lightning storm causing a power outage at Johnson Field. The game will be made up Sunday at 4:00 p.m.

Hauser Nets First Career Goal in Loss at Hofstra
SHU’s MAAC opener, the first of three straight home games at Johnson Field in New Haven, Conn., comes next Friday at 7 pm against Siena. The Pioneers defeated the Saints 1-0 in 2014.

Rachel Claroni Scores Two Leading SHU to 2-1 Victory Over Holy Cross
Rachel Claroni notched a pair of goals leading the Sacred Heart field hockey team to a 2-1 victory over Holy Cross Sunday in the 2015 home-opener. The senior’s first two goals of the season snapped the Pioneers’ three-game slide improving SHU to 2-3 on the season, while the Crusaders fell to 3-3.

Vermont Hands SHU Field Hockey First Loss of 2015 2-0
The Sacred Heart field hockey team fell to Vermont 2-0 Sunday afternoon in a neutral game at Hofstra. After a scoreless first half, UVM’s Lauren Tucker scored twice for the Catamounts in the latter half making SHU 1-1 after the season’s first weekend of play. Danielle Gallagher led the Pioneers with two shots on goal.

Field Hockey Schedule Announced; Home Matches to be Played at Yale
The 16-game schedule consists of five nonconference rematches, as well as a rematch against MAAC newcomer Fairfield. The Pioneers will be playing their home matches at Johnson Field on the campus of Yale University in New Haven, Conn.
