Pioneers Place Third at LadyCat Invitational

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.— The Sacred Heart University women's golf team concluded spring break with a third-place finish at the Lady EagleCat Invitational on Friday afternoon. The Pioneers have earned third place in the annual event at LPGA International in back-to-back seasons. 

Junior Chelsea Sedlar led the Pioneers scoring group with a fifth-place finish in the event. Sedlar finished with a 15-over 159 in the two rounds. Senior Lauren Pelster earned a 12th place finished with a score of 165. Sophomore Ana Contreras finished three strokes behind Pelster at 168 for 14th place. Seniors Abigail Hood and Alejandra Perez closed out the SHU scoring group tied for 21st with a score of 174.

Junior Chrissie Wojciechowski finished tied for 19th with a two-round score of 171 as an individual. Freshman Maya Isom finished 26th in the event as an individual with a score of 176. 

Tournament hosts, Bethune-Cookman claimed the team title with a score of 620. Just ahead of the Pioneers in second was North Carolina A&T at 646. SHU rounded out the top three with a score of 657.

The Pioneers are back on the course Monday, March 19 as they open the Kingsmill Intercollegiate at the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia.
