BLOOMFIELD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University women's golf team finished one stroke off the lead at the Hartford Women's Invitational that was shortened to just one round due to inclement weather expected on Sunday.
The Pioneers were paced by three top-10 finishers, including first overall by senior Alejandra Perez who carded a career-low round two-under 70 at Tumble Brooke Country Club. Junior Chelsea Sedlar finished tied for second with a single round of 73. Senior Abigail Hood rounded out the Pioneers in the top 10 with a score of 75, good for a tie for eighth on the leaderboard.
SHU finished one stroke behind NEC counterpart, Fairleigh Dickinson with a single round score of 299. Dartmouth rounded out the top three in third place.
The Pioneers travel down to LPGA International for the NEC Championships this weekend. SHU's title defense in the three-round event opens on Friday, April 20.
