SHELTON, Conn,- The Sacred Heart University women's hockey team (24-6-2) earned a 8-0 win over St. Michael's (5-21) on Saturday afternoon at the Sports Center of Connecticut.
Less than four minutes later, Lilly Cleary increased the Pioneers lead to 3-0, as she buried home a shot, assisted by Bishop and carly Radovich. Brittany Smith would set up Marissa Letizio to give the Pioneers a 4-0 lead. Kabalka completed the scring in the second period for the Pioneers with an unassisted shot from in front of the net to extend SHU's lead further.
The Pioneers added three more goals in the third, as two minutes into the period Bishop added her second, with Cleary adding her second assist of the night. At the 5:59 mark, Jayne Lewis made it seven for SHU, with an assist from Haley Payne and Cleary's third assist of the night. Letizio added her second and SHU's eighth to complete the scoring, assisted by Katie Stueve.
Devan Kane recorded eight saves on the night, en route to her second shutout of the season. The Pioneers had a total of 44 shots and St. Michaels had a total of eight.
The Pioneers will be back in action Wednesday Feb. 21 in the first round of the NEWHA Tournament against Post at 7:30 p.m. at the Sports Center of Connecticut in Shelton.
