Boston, MA -- Sacred Heart Women's Track & Field competed in the Boston University Multi-Team Meet against Boston University, UMass Lowell and Boston College.
Kayla Lawrence made her season debut in the 400 meters, winning the event by a significant margin as she crossed the line in 56.80, 1.5 seconds faster than the 2nd place finisher. The time crushes the New England standard of 58.73, and also surpasses the ECAC standard of 56.84. She now ranks 1st in the NEC by more than two seconds. Lawrence also ran well in the 200m as she set a season best time of 25.80.
Jacqueline Thorne debuted in the 800m with a time of 2:18.07. The performance surpasses the New England standard and ranks her 3rd in the NEC in the event. The freshman is also ranked 2nd in the mile.
Tara Connelly also made a New England standard in the 1000m, setting a new personal best of 3:01.73. Connelly leads the NEC in the mile after her performance at the Yale Invite last weekend, where she crossed the line in 5:05.53.
Mareena DiMilia won the women's weight throw, with a season best mark of 15.94m (52'3.75 ft). The distance is a New England qualifier and ranks her 3rd in the NEC. Teammate Jenna Rothermel set a new personal best in the event as well, with her best mark of the day landing at 14.82m (48'7.5 ft). DiMilia also took 2nd in the shot put with a season best of 12.79m (41'11.5 ft), which is also good for a New England qualifier.
Junior Selina Sampieri won the pole vault, jumping 3.35m (10'11.75 ft). Teammate Kerstyn Ciulla cleared the same height, taking 4th based on attempts. Sampieri currently ranks 1st in the NEC after clearing 3.50m (11'5.75 ft) at the Wagner Invite and Ciulla ranks 4th.
