Sampieri & Lawrence with wins at Yale Invitational

New Haven, CT. - Sacred Heart women's track & field completed this weekend at the 2017 Yale Springtime Invitational.

Mareena DiMilia also competed at the historic Penn Relays, hosted by UPenn at Franklin Field. The senior thrower was in the college division, where she finished 9th of 35 entries. Her best mark of the day was well over the ECAC and New England qualifying marks, measuring in at 183'6" feet.

2017 Yale Springtime Invitational

Madelyn Bradway set a huge personal best in the discus throw, to win the event with an ECAC and New England qualifying mark of 142'3". The rookie currently ranks 3rd amongst NEC competitors in the event. Teammate Erika Johnson also set a personal best in the event with a New England qualifying mark of 130'9". She currently ranks 7th in the NEC in the event.

Mareena DiMilia also was 1st among collegiate competitors in the hammer throw, with an ECAC and New England mark of 183'5". DiMilia currently ranks 1st in the event in the NEC. Jenna Rothermel also threw a New England mark in the event, with her best throw measuring in at 162 feet.
Tanaya Wade ran a New England time in the 100 meter dash, crossing the line in 12.36 for 2nd place. Wade currently ranks 3rd in the NEC.
Kayla Lawrence won the 200 meter dash in a time of 25.75 seconds.
Victoria Pileggi set a new personal best in the triple jump, leaping 36'9.5". The mark ranks the senior 5th among NEC competitors. Pileggi also cleared 5'1" in the high jump to tie for 3rd in the event.
Selina Sampieri and Amy Vegliante went 1st and 2nd in the pole vault. Sampieri cleared a New England qualifying height of 11'7.75" which matches her best this season as well as her own outdoor school record. Sampieri is currently ranked 3rd in the NEC. Vegliante also matched her season best. At 10'8", the sophomore is ranked 9th in the NEC.
