SHU finishes 11th of 39 teams at NEICAAA Outdoor Championships

The Sacred Heart women finished 11th of 39 teams, with a total score of 26 points.

Mareena DiMilia set a new personal record in the javelin throw, with an ECAC throw of 44.89 meters (147'3") that breaks her own school record of 44.53 meters (146'1") set last outdoor season. DiMilia currently ranks 41st in the Division 1 East Region. The top 48 get a bid to the NCAA East Regional Championships held in Lexington, Kentucky in two weeks.
DiMilia finished 2nd in the javelin throw to pick up 8 points, while also finishing 6th in the hammer throw for 3 more points. Her best mark of the day in the hammer measured in at 52.09 meters (170'9"), which is also an ECAC qualifying performance.
Junior Selina Sampieri also set a new personal best, clearing 3.70 meters (12'1.5") in the pole vault to break her own previous school record of 3.60 meters (11'9.75). Sampieri finished 6th in the event to pick up 3 points for the SHU women.
Nicole Bartosch completed her collegiate career with a 3rd place in the heptathlon, which scored 6 points for the Pioneers. The senior scored a total of 5011 points between the 7 different events, winning the 200 meter dash in 24.77 seconds, and taking 2nd in the 800 meters in 2:21.87. Bartosch's season best score of 5226 points, posted at the Mt. Sac Relays earlier this season, stands 42nd in the nation in all of Division 1 prior to this weekend.
Kate Svensen finished 6th in the 500 meters, with a new personal best and ECAC qualifying performance of 17:13.27.
The women's 4x800 relay finished 7th overall in a time of 9:43.25. The squad consisted of Victoria Cutrone, Jennifer Hahne, Trista Leo and Delaney Kimball.
Kayla Lawrence finished 8th overall in the 400 meter dash.
All of the above have earned "All-New England" honors, which is awarded to the top 8 finishers in each event.
 

Other notable performances:

-Emma Cary ran a personal best in the 5000m (17:51.94)

-Jillian Kilmer ran 15.79 in the 100m hurdles

-Tara Connelly finished 9th in the 3000m steeplechase (10:56.68). Lindsey Lucas finished 12th (11:09.09) and Kelly Quinn 14th (11:17.58)

-Amy Vegliante matched her personal best in the pole vault, leaping 3.40 meters (11'1.75")

-Erika Johnson finished 9th in the discus with 39.30 meters (128'9"). Julia Cassidy finished 11th with 38.28 meters (125'6"). Cassidy was also 9th in the javelin at 40.65 meters (133'4")

-Jenna Rothermel was 10th in the hammer throw at 50.90 meters (167 ft)

-Kristina Klemenz competed in the shot put, throwing 11.89 meters (39 ft)

-Tanaya Wade ran 12.51 seconds in the 100 meter dash and Adriana Forcucci 12.64 seconds
