  • Lea Lieb Named NEC Scholar-Athlete Of The Year

    Sacred Heart University women’s volleyball alumna Lea Lieb has been named a 2016-17 Northeast Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The graduated setter posted a 4.0 GPA during her career as a Pioneer.

  • Pioneers Fall To LIU In A Heartbreaking Five Sets

    FAIRFIELD, CONN.- As the busy weekend came to a close, the Pioneers took on the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds to see who would take home the NEC Trophy. Senior Allison Riggs, and Senior Ana Gonzalez were named to the NEC All Tournament team at the conclusion of todays contest.
  • Pioneers Advance To NEC Finals

    FAIRFIELD, CONN.-The #1 seeded Pioneers kicked off the NEC Women’s Volleyball Tournament as they took on the #4 seeded Central Connecticut State Blue Devils. The Two teams have split regular season matches as both matches went into five sets, the Blue Devils taking the first and the Pioneers the second... The teams matchup for a final time to settle the score.
  • Four Pioneers Recognized In NEC End Of Season Awards

    FAIRFIELD, CONN. – The Northeast Conference announced the 2016 end of the season awards Friday night at the NEC banquet. The Pioneers held the majority of the awards this year after a stellar regular season record of 13-1. Senior Sarah Krufka was named the NEC Player of the Year for the second time after receiving the same honor last season. Senior Ana Gonzalez also received an individual honor after being named the NEC Libero of the Year. Joining Sarah Krufka, and Ana Gonzalez on the first team All-Conference is sophomore Makayla Dole. This is Makaylas first time being named to the NEC All-Conference Team. To wrap up the awards Senior Allison Riggs was named to the NEC All-Conference second team.
  • Makayla Dole Selected As NEC Player of The Week For Fourth Time

    After a big weekend for the Pioneers Women's Volleyball team Sophomore Makayla Dole was selected as this weeks Player of the Week. This is Makaylas fourth time being selected as the Player of the Week, which is the most out of any player in the Conference.
  • SHU Posts 5 Set Nail Biter To Send Off Seniors On Top

    FAIRFIELD, CONN.- In an emotional night for the SHU seniors the women’s volleyball team ended the night on top, out doing the Blue Devils of Central Connecticut State in a five set nail biter. Six seniors were honored at the end of the night for all their dedication and hard work for the Pioneers.
  • Pioneers Sweep Bryant, Will Now Host NEC Tournament

    FAIRFIELD, CONN.- The Sacred Heart Pioneers continue to dominate the NEC as they take out the second place Bryant Bulldogs in three straight sets. This win solidifies the Pioneers as the regular season Champions and will now host the NEC Tournament November 19-20th. The Pioneers are now 12-1 in the conference and move on the CCSU tomorrow at 4:00pm.
  • Sarah Krufka Player of The Week/Liisel Nelis Rookie of The Week

    The Women's Volleyball team has been on a tear in the NEC this year collecting an 11-1 record. Senior Sarah Krufka was named NEC Player of the Week for the second time this year after having a big weekend. Freshman Liisel Nelis was also picked as the Rookie of the Week for the third time this season after posting big numbers against FDU, and UMass Lowell. The SHU volleyball team takes the court this weekend as they battle Bryant on Saturday at 2:00pm in the Pitt Center. We will also be noticing out seniors on Sunday at 4:00pm as they take on CCSU for the final match of the year in Regular season play.
  • Krufka Leads The Pioneers To A 3-1 Win Over UMass Lowell

    The Sacred Heart Women’s Volleyball team hit the road today to take on UMass Lowell in a non-conference battle. The River Cats kept the match close in all four sets keeping the Pioneers on their toes. The Pioneers are now 19-7 overall moving into their last weekend of regular season play.

    FAIRFIELD, CONN- The Sacred Heart women’s volleyball team improves to 11-1 after defeating the Knights of Fairleigh Dickinson in three straight sets. This win gives the Pioneers the regular season championship with two games left to play before the tournament.
  • Sarah Krufka Breaks Career Kills Record 1,453!

    FAIRFIELD, CONN.- Senior Sarah Krufka has had a remarkable career as a Pioneer at Sacred Heart. The Santa Margarita, California native has added yet another accolade to her resume as she now holds the Sacred Heart record for most career kills by any Pioneer on the women’s volleyball team with 1,453. Formerly held by Tricia Moore who had 1,447 (1996-99).
  • Dole Named NEC Player of The Week, Liisel Nelis Rookie of the Week

    The Sacred Heart Women's Volleyball team had another dominant weekend as they went 2-0 defeating Saint Francis U and Robert Morris. The Pioneers are now 10-1 in conference play and have earned the first spot in the NEC tournament. The Pioneers have earned a tournament appearence the last 8 out of 10 years. Sophomore Makayla Dole has now been named NEC Player of the Week three times this season that is most out of any player this season. Freshman Liisel Nelis has now been named Rookie of the Week for her second time this season.

    The Pioneers next home match versus cross town rival Fairfield University has been moved to Monday, November 28th due to scheduling conflicts. The Sacred Heart women's volleyball team is off to a great start this season posting an overall record of 12-7, and an NEC record of 5-1. The Pioneers will continue play this weekend as they hit the road to take on Fairleigh Dickinson this Saturday at 1:00pm.

    The Sacred Heart women’s volleyball team had a huge weekend defeating St. Francis Brooklyn and LIU Brooklyn improving their record to 8-6 (2-0). The Pioneers impressively defeated the blackbirds of LIU in four sets. The last time the team defeated LIU was in 2011. Sacred Heart sits on top of the NEC rankings tied with Central Connecticut State, and Bryant.
