Baseball Drops Doubleheader at South Alabama

MOBILE, Alabama - The Sacred Heart University baseball team was swept by South Alabama Friday, falling to the Jaguars 16-1 and 12. Noah Centeno, Isiah Daubon and Alex Perry led the SHU offense. The Pioneers fall to 3-9 on the season, while the Jaguars improve to 8-9.

  • Brent Teller got the start and took the loss after giving up two earned runs on three hits and struck out two in 3.1 innings of work

  • Alex Perry and Daubon drove in the lone SHU runs

  • Justin Jordan and Trevor Fagan picked up the lone SHU hits

  • SHU broke the scoreless tie after Daubon grounded out to second, allowing Daubon to score from third

  • South Alabama responded by tallying three runs in the bottom of the fourth

  • With one out in the fifth and runners on the corners, Perry dropped a sac-bunt to bring home Elijah Brown to cut the deficit to 3-2

  • The Jaguars scored a total of six runs over the next three innings to take a 9-3 lead

  • South Alabama tacked on three more runs in the eighth to secure the 12-3 win over the Pioneers


The Pioneers will be back in action on Saturday, Mar. 9, when the Pioneers close a three-game series with South Alabama at 2 p.m.
