Setting the Scene... The Pioneers look to even up their NEC record Saturday afternoon when they host Bryant at the Pitt Center.

Last Time Out... SHU opened the 2018 calendar year with a 69-63 loss at Wagner Thursday night. After falling behind 12-0, the Pioneers closed the deficit to one, 35-34, at halftime. SHU led by as much as four in the second half, but a late 8-2 run by the Seahawks gave them the win. Mario Matasovic led SHU with 16 points as Joseph Lopez had a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds.

High-Percentage Points... The Pioneers are averaging 33.5 points per game in the paint this season, which is just over half of their total scoring average of 66 points per game. SHU has averaged 34.3 points in the paint over the last six games, shooting 41.7% from the field during that stretch.

Mario Powers Up His Scoring... Redshirt-Senior forward Mario Matasovic has scored in double figures in each of the last four games, and in five of the last six. In his last four games, Matasovic has scored 14 points at Providence, 15 against FDU, 16 at Wagner, and 17 against St. Francis Brooklyn. He has shot 55.4% from the field and 70% from the foul line over the last six games. Matasovic is second in the NEC in field goal percentage at 60%. 

Lopez On The Block... Senior foward Joseph Lopez posted his sixth double-double of the season Thursday night with 10 points and 12 rebounds at Wagner. It was his first double-double since Dec. 11 at Hartford. Lopez is second in the NEC in rebounding at 9.1 per game. He has scored in double-figures in six of his last seven games.

Sometimes 40 Minutes Aren't Enough... SHU and Bryant have gone to overtime four times in the last six meetings. SHU won both games in overtime last season, including a 112-110 triple overtime win at Bryant on Jan. 14, 2017. In the 2015 NEC Tournament, Bryant won 91-85 in double overtime in the quarterfinals at Chace Athletic Center.

All-Time Vs. Bryant... SHU leads the all-time series against Bryant 22-13. The Pioneers have won the last four meetings and six of the last seven. SHU won both games last season against the Bulldogs, winning 112-110 in triple overtime at Bryant and 73-70 at the Pitt Center in overtime.

Last Meeting... The Pioneers defeated Bryant 73-70 in overtime at the Pitt Center on Feb. 4, 2017. The Bulldogs' Nisre Zouzoua hit a three at the end of regulation to force overtime. SHU went up six early in the extra period, with Bryant cutting the deficit to one, 69-68, with 1:39 to go. Joseph Lopez made a key layup with 1:10 left to make the score 71-68. Quincy McKnight led all players with 25 points.

Scouting Bryant... Picked to finish eighth in the NEC in the preseason, the Bulldogs come into Saturday's game 0-3 in the NEC after a 96-80 loss at Mount St. Mary's on Thursday. Adam Grant led Bryant with 29 points against the Mountaineers, making nine threes. Grant leads Bryant in scoring with 15.3 points per game.
