Sacred Heart University men's basketball junior, E.J. Anosike, was named to the NABC District 15 First-Team, announced on Monday.
Anosike, a First-Team All-NEC selection, became only the 13th player in NEC history to average a double-double for a season. He finished seventh in the NEC at 15.7 points per game and his 11.6 rebounds per game were sixth in the NCAA and first in the conference. Anosike collected 18 double-doubles on the season, which placed him seventh in the NCAA.
On the offensive glass, Anosike excelled all season, averaging 4.2 offensive caroms per game. That number was the fourth-best average in the nation and tops in the NEC. He collected 383 total rebounds, fourth most in the country and just 17 shy of leading the nation in that category.
The Pioneers posted a 20-13 record during the 2019-20 season, the most wins in Division I program history and the first 20-win season for SHU since the 1988-89 campaign. The Pioneers also earned an NEC Tournament victory, the first since the 2009 quarterfinals, with a 61-59 win over Mount St. Mary's.
