Men’s Fencing Falls to Yale, 20-7


NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Sacred Heart men's fencing team made a trip to Yale on Saturday and fell to the Ivy League power, 20-7, at the Payne Whitney Gymnasium.

The epee round came down to just one point as SHU fell to the Bulldogs 5-4 while the foil unit lost by a close 6-3 margin and the sabre was swept 9-0.

In the epee portion of the competition, Cameron Silver went 2-1 to lead the Pioneers while Bennett Cohen and Troy Kapitzke each picked up a win.

In the foil, Tomas Koeck went 2-1 to lead SHU, defeating North American Cup finalist Cameron Allen 5-3 and Daniel Li (former Canadian National Team member) 5-2. Lawrence Tan picked up the other point for SHU, scoring a 5-2 win over Aidan Ahn.

The Pioneers are back in action on Sunday, February 9 with the NFC Meet #3 hosted by Tufts in Boston.
