SOMERSET, N.J. – For the third straight week, Sacred Heart football first-year WR Tyrese Chambers has earned NEC Rookie of the Week accolades, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon. His performance on Saturday in a 34-10 road win at LIU also put him in consideration for National Freshman Player of the Week as he was announced as an honorable mention.
The three-time defending NEC Rookie of the Week Chambers was the go-to target for QB Logan Marchi once again through the air as the first-year hauled in eight catches on 10 targets for 144 yards (18.0 ypc) and 2 TD. Chambers broke his own SHU first-year single-game record for receiving yards in a game while his 60-yard catch-and-run score on a slate in the second quarter established a new career-long reception. Seven of his eight receptions went for first downs while his first two catches on the day both went for touchdowns.
