The Sacred Heart University rowing and men's volleyball teams have been recognized by the NCAA as a part of the 2010 NCAA Division I Academic Performance Program. Both teams are ranked among the top 10 percent nationally in its sport.
Three Sacred Heart men's volleyball players, senior Kalani Efstathiou and juniors Craig Harvey and Tim Sadowski, have been named to the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) All-Academic squad for the 2010 season.
The Sacred Heart men's volleyball team got the attention of the homestanding Princeton Tigers in the first round of the EIVA playoffs Saturday night. The Pioneers took the first set from the Tigers and went to the wire in the second, but were unable to dent the scoreboard further, falling 3-1 (30-28, 27-30, 14-30, 18-30).
Junior Roger Parent (Burlington, CT) was named the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) Hay Division Player of the Week today after helping the Pioneers to a 2-1 week and a berth in the post-season tournament.
Senior Kalani Efstathiou (Beaverton, OR) had 23 kills and the game-winning block on the final point of the fifth set to lead the Sacred Heart men's volleyball team to a 3-2 (30-23, 31-33, 32-30, 26-30, 15-13) win at Harvard Friday night.
