NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The Sacred Heart men's cross country team raced to a seventh place finish on Saturday morning at the Northeast Conference Championships, hosted by Central Connecticut State University at Stanley Quarter Park. The Pioneers finished the race with 232 points. Wagner took home its first-ever NEC title, edging out the perennial league power CCSU who took second place.
- Senior Nicholas Pandolfo placed first on the team, landing in 48th place overall out of 89 runners with a time of 28:00.0. This marked the first time in Pandolfo's career he has placed first on the team.
- Pandolfo was the top finisher in a SHU pack that featured sophomore Corey Picard (50th, 28:08.3), junior Ryan Corbett (52nd, 28:14.1) and junior Sean Murray (54th, 28:20.3) who all scored for the Pioneers on the day and came within five places of one another in the overall standings
- Rounding out the scoring for SHU was junior Gilmar Barrios who clocked in at 28:55.0 and placed 65th overall
- Senior Gavin Thurlow (66th, 29:01.6), senior Justin Klotz (67th, 29:10.9), junior Christopher Gillis (69th, 29:19.5), first-year Trevor Middleton (72nd, 29:28.0) and junior Moetiz Shilleh (75th, 29:31.0) rounded out the field for the Pioneers
