DeLAND, Fla.– The Sacred Heart University softball team wrapped up play at the Stetson University Classic on Sunday by posting the team's first shutout of the 2020 season, as SHU blanked Northern Kentucky University, 3-0. The Pioneers, who are now 8-8 on the season, will be back in action on Friday, March 13 when they travel to Greenville, North Carolina to take part in the East Carolina Tournament, facing Rutgers University at 10:00 a.m. and the host Pirates at 3:00 p.m.
Sacred Heart University Pioneers (8-8 overall, 0-0 NEC)
Northern Kentucky University Norse (9-9 overall, 0-0 Horizon)
· For the second straight game involving the Pioneers, all the scoring in the contest would come on a home run, this time in Sacred Heart's favor, as senior Katelyn Christian blasted a two-out, full count pitch over the fence in left center in the bottom of the first inning. Christian's second homer of the season plated Kylee Harvey, who led off the inning with a double, and Alyssa Gonzalez, who was hit by a pitch with two outs.

·Junior Shyanne Fennell spun her team's first shutout of the season blanking Northern Kentucky, as she allowed seven hits (all singles), with two strikeouts and one walk. Fennell, who evened her season record at 4-4 with the victory, used 102 pitches to finish her gem.
· Starter Lauryn Hicks took the loss for the Norse working 4.0 innings, allowing four hits, three runs (all earned) with six K's and one walk.

· Northern Kentucky outhit the Pioneers, 7-5, in the game.
· As a team, Sacred Heart went 3-2 in five games at the Stetson University Classic, sweeping a pair of contests from Northern Kentucky, splitting two games with the host Hatters and losing once to Fairfield.
·On Sunday, junior shortstop Kira Ferraiolo was the lone Pioneer with a multi-hit game, as she went 2-for-2 at the plate for the winners.
