FAIRFIELD, Conn.- The Sacred Heart University Swimming and Diving Team was named to the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA)'s Scholar All-America team for the Spring 2019 Semester. The CSCAA recognizes those teams achieving a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the semester.
"This is a great accomplishment for these student athletes and they should be very proud of all the hard work they put in all year long in the classroom," said head coach John Spadafina.
The Pioneers placed tied for 56th in the nation in team GPA as they compiled a grade point average of 3.55. This is the 10th time in program history under head coach John Spadafina the Pioneers have been recognized for their strong academic achievement. SHU was just one of a record breaking 106 division one programs to receive this award. In total, a record 777 teams representing 480 institutions from across all divisions were awarded this spring. The Pioneers surpassed the median GPA for the spring which was 3.45.
Founded in 1922, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) – the oldest organization of college coaches in America -is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming & diving at the collegiate level.
